I usually give it a cycle or two before I go. SC Law requires us to wait two minutes. If we haven't been given the green light after that, we are allowed to treat the light as a "Stop Sign" and continue through when it is safe to do so.

In Texas they assume the lights ALWAYS work so, according to the TXDOT website, there is no provision to run the light if it doesn't change, EVER. You're just supposed to sit there until you die or 'move to the right side of the road' then proceed safely (presumably not running the light I guess). Uh, sure thing...

I'll wait for a couple of changes so I know it's broke then I'm going.

Several riders around here have been ticketed for it and went to court, judges tell them to shut up and pay up...

Enjoy every minute of life!

I remember when i was a kid that the "old men" in "good standing in the community"(no warrants...not drunk, etc) could go thru unoccupied reds after stopping at night.

They also treated 4way stops as slow downs if no cross traffic....

rode their dirtbikes on the public roads.

and they did not pay much attention to speed limits outside of town.

how/why did we lose this?

40+ yrs ago in rural Cali.

I just go after one cycle. Any cop that gives a ticket for that would have to be a total dickhead. Btw, Lambo Superleggeras don't trigger the light either, too little metal and too much carbon.

I'll do this if I have to wait a cycle or two. But it can't but a major intersection for me. If it is, I just turn and go around the light if I can.

I usually will wait for the light to go 2 times around. If it skips me again, i'm gone. Unless there is a traffic cam then i just turn and go around.

No cop, no stop...
If I'm in an especially patient mood, or there are vehicles in the opposing lane I will just get off and hit the crosswalk button.
Per TX law you cannot go through a red no matter what. By law the traffic lights are supposedly required to react to the weight of a motorcycle.

It's been happening to me here lately when I get off work...I'll sit there for a min. If it's still red and no traffic I go through.

I'll wait for 1.62 seconds. If it's still red, I'll wheelie into the middle of the intersection, then do a stoppie, and then wheelie the rest of the way through.

Cops love it when I do this. They flash their lights to show their appreciation. And some of them even want me to speed away; they let me know by sounding their siren.

RIP Chenhan

I wouldn't trust any lights because my city has a lot of cameras and they take pictures of you crossing the red light. This is a fine in my neighborhood but in some places, it might be a ticket. The best thing to do is to park your bike and push the pedestrian button and go back to the bike so the light will turn green almost immediately. Thats what I do. Also, its for safety because there could be people coming up and you never know what will happen. Ride Safe!

Only a few in my area don't work (usually the ones with concrete rather than pavement) which in southern states is probably almost all of them?

I'll wait a bit, if its clear I run.. Pretty sure every biker does this... especially scooters.. lol scooters...

I'll wait for one cycle. If I miss it again, and there's no one around, I just go.

I will forever refuse to recognize the limits that others would place on what I can, and cannot do.
