2006 R6 - Real world testing = Not so good!

Original thread: http://forums.13x.com/showthread.php...0&pagenumber=1

We've all heard the stories by now about the 17.5k redline problem, and this thread also confirms it is not reachable with stock equip. Also has dyno results of the 06 R6 vs a '05 GSX-R600, '05 R6, and a SS-built '05 R6 as well..

Granted, I still think the bike looks b-e-a-utiful, but it seems like Yamaha made some key changes for their "race-spec" model that arent really racer-friendly, as well as some power problems.. see for urself..

Key points:
Quote:
1.)If you remove the kick stand bracket the shift lever pivot goes with it…..that means rear sets for EVERYBODY.

2.)You have to remove the shift linkage to take the oil filter off….

3.)The voltage regulator is mounted on the front of the radiator…..not crash friendly.

4.)The stock bodywork is made up of about 15 different pieces…..

5.)The oil pan is shaped like W.

6.)The tail section is TINY. I have no idea how you will be able to do numbers on these bikes.

7.)The bike has a lambda sensor stock.

8.)The generator cover is really thin….just like the old kit stuff.

yeah, i saw that. all of the points suck! and its also seriously down on midrange. i'm getting alittle sick of the 'optimistic' redlines and speedos. can't someone call false advertising on that crap.....oh well...i still think the raven version looks pretty bad ass, but i'm with the others who say that the styling is alittle off -- that tacked on side fairing piece being the major problem. overall, interesting bike, but i'm still a red rider.

15 pieces fo rbodywork.. ooo wee, that san expensive drop.
and we all know how yami likes to use velcro to hold sh!t together too

the W shaped oil pan may be a good thing if oil starvation from leaning over at full g force was a problem.

No more mod listing, shits is STILL too long

I personally hate the way it looks. But that is just me. It looks like they exaggerated everything to the point of ridiculousness, and it just doesn't work for me. Just my 2 worthless cents.

Just did a good read of the link... Am I the only one who looks at that dyno charts and sees crap? If I am a street rider, where am I going to be able to run at 17,000 rpm all the time? It's probably at like 70mph in that range!

I just saw the bike in person yesterday. I was dissapointed because I thought it was going to look way better in person since the pics made me drool. If I had the cash flow I'd still buy it and try to get those white/red/black plastics from Europe.

the tail is probably the worst part of the bike mainly because its throws off the equilibrium in its overall shape. its puny.

So, I guess all the MotoGP bikes' equilibrium must be off if that's the case since their tail are just as short.

Too each his own... If I had the cash there would be one in my garage this season and next season race prepped all the way. It's a tiny little rocket!

true if i could have it i would ride it to the ground but i dont think its 16200 lieing rpm marketing guys can get me to buy one (i will gladly take one though like said earlier)

Never argue with stupid people. They will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience
Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

honestly, not having a 17.5k redline isn't a concern for me. I rarely take my bike to redline as it is...i use my RR for fun and not all out racing. I think some of the other things listed (such as removal of shift linkage to take off the oil filter) are worse then a "normal" redline after publishing a much higher redline to begin with. my 2 cents...
