I'd skip on the clear.....

On both of my previous bikes with polished wheels I skipped on clearing because I heard it would "yellow" and dull over time. Just re-polish them every couple weeks and you'll be fine takes a bit more elbow grease but the mirror like finished product is worth it.....

no. I thought about it a lot and it seems theres more cons than there are pros. Yellowing of the clear, plus I wouldn't want to risk having my tire changed and the machine chewing up the clear anywhere.

Ya know thinking back on this, I don't recall ever hearing of anyone clear coating the rims after they have done this.
