***NEW RIDE*** What to get?

Looks like I may be in the market for a new ride. These are what I have been considering (yes some are from the "dak side").

05-06 CBR 1000RR

05-06 GSXR 1000

04-05 GSXR 750

06 GSXR 750 (although I dont like the exhaust on the new model)

Things that I care about are reliability(I put a lot of miles on my bike), parts support, rideability(throttle is not a on/off switch), suspension.

What are your thoughts about these bikes and how do they compare in the above classes.

I always hear complaints about the clutch lever/lifter on yamahas is fragil and breaks if the bike tips over. I do like the Raven model though.

hmmm fragile??? I suggest you take one for a ride... Yamaha's are just as responsive and trusty if not more than our honda's... and FUK SUZUKI.

so if the throttle is not an on off switch why are you looking ate larger displacment bikes??

Never argue with stupid people. They will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience
Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

I love honda, but out of the list of those bikes is would get the gixxer 1000, if spaceboy plans on making some track days, which I would hope you do soon considering that public road that you are dragging your knee on is not the smartest place to do it. Between the 05-06 gixxer 1000's there is nothing changed but the paint.

The larger displacement is because I commute alot on my bike as well and I am a big guy. I love my 600 but for commuting it is a bit small.

No offense but you think that for commuting, a throttle happy, completely race ready liter bike is a better choice??

If your main thing is commute, why don't you get something less crotch rocketish, like a Ducati Monster or a Honda 919. Or even a Honda VFR if you wanna stay kinda sporty but still are all about the commute.

The main reason is to ride. I happen to commute a lot on the bike as well because of traffic. I have loved my 03 600RR for the last 3 years but due to some squid crossing a double yellow line and hitting me out in the canyons this bike is totalled. I now have to get a new bike and I WANT to go up in displacement.

If Honda made a 750 my choice would be a lot simpler but they dont so these are what I am interested in.

.....Why no 600cc?

You're never going to use the 1000cc to it's full potential so I think there is no point to it so I voted for the 06 GSXR750.

Even if you were going to make it a Track only bike I would stick with my choice, but dont get a 750 or 1000 unless you're going to use it, it's a waste of money.

If you ever get into racing you can do more classes with a 600cc bike.
Also they use less gas in an endurance race.
The CBR1000RR has some great specials right now and you could get one at a good price.
The new 750 that I voted for would be a good all around bike with power to weight that is very worthy of twisties to high way.
Good luck with how ever it works and share pictures please when you do decide.

Just for information purposes only. I love Hondas but I have personally witnessed a Gixxer Liter smoke a R1 and a 929 while he was at it, he left the one 750 and the few 600's in the dust also.

06 gixxer 750, as light as the 600 with 20% more upmph. won't spit you off being hamfisted as much as a 1k would. Best of both worlds ;)
