forgot to mention:

If the bike goes for the asking price, I also have a spare set of DMP tire warmers, the Handy-stands rear stand, and a spare set of Michelin PR tires to throw in.

Don't think so.

The original owner had said I could contact him about getting the title if I needed to go through re-titling...but that was a year ago when I purchased the bike.

you're right about that...there are some scuffs on the frame. Looks like the bike went down and slid into some gravel. No serious damage though, I'll try to get pics up of that scratch this weekend.

Ah ok. its a very nice bike but I really prefer having bikes with titles in my name if there is ever a problem where I need to show ownership. Sorry

Not a problem...

First post edited...I'm selling the bike with the extras and keeping the price, too lazy/busy to remove the shock these days and I figure someone will enjoy it on the bike.

I'm with you on that one. Maybe if you were located in southern CA, I may seriously consider it.

yea...the title thing is a PITA for some...but if you just plan on putting the bike on the track and having fun, then it's the perfect bike for someone out there. Title or no title, you can't build this bike for the asking price...

yea...the joke about it being stolen really isnt funny...but whatever.

the bike is NOT stolen, the guy I purchased the bike from never retitled the bike when he purchased it since he was just building a race bike. He had purchased it from a dealer that picked the bike up at an auction since the insurance company had totalled the bike out...there are a few light scratches on the frame which are barely visible in the picture.

I didnt bother with the title for the same reason; didnt wanna pay extra cash and have to go through inspection when I was just building the race bike...I didnt have the stock plastics anyway.

So no...the bike is NOT stolen, and I have the bill of sale on hand from when I purchased the bike. I also still have the previous owners contact info still if need be.

Yo....you can re-title it to yourself even if he didn't. As long as the last owner signed the title. Sounds very hairy to me though chief. If you do get a title it will be salvage because of the frame scratches, unfortunately. That's about the price I've been seeing for a salvage 600rr w/ title. Without, you're probably cutting it in 1/2. At least in PHX anyway. We have a bit of a theft problem. And hey....I could care less about a title for the track bike I see if you'll take $2k, but it's a great setup.

Do yourself a favor and track down the title.

Akrapovic CF slip on, PC, Sprocket Conv +2 Rear -1 Front, gold DID X-ring chain, Vortex Rearsets (GP Shifting), carbon sliders, blk chrm racetech screen, Speedmax flushies, signal integrated tail light, FE...... WORKIN ON IT!
49,000 mi so far....

not that i know the seller or care about this topic but different states have different laws. in florida, if you crash a bike up even a little bit and the insurance company totals the bike, the DMV issues a certificate of destruction or a bill of sale from the auction. if it has one of these brandings the state of florida will not issue a title, period. however some states will issue a salvage title after an inspection and the c.od./bill of sale. im not talking about a hand written bill of sale either. it is a legal document showing ownership, similar to a title but not the same. all depends on the state you live in.

yep...and unfortunately that's what I'd have to deal with.

To get anything from the DMV for the bike in florida I would have to rebuild it as a street bike with all of the "bells and whistles": stock plastics, headlights, blinkers...and then go for an inspection, and then pay the fee to get the COD title issues to me.

I would have done it a long time ago if it wasn't such a PITA.
