*updated* Experience from motorcyclesuperstore - NEVER AGAIN

I have had the absolute worst experience ever with motorcyclesuperstore.com

here are the details:
I ordered my Rs-5 CF yoshi exhaust back in June. it arrived about 5 days later... like a kid in a candy store i installed it asap!

2 weeks later the carbon fiber around the end cap was cracking, chipping, looked like burnt plastic... I contact motorcycle superstore and they say I can return it because it is within the 60 day period but it would take up to 8 weeks or so for the them to issue a refund... (which I would then use to buy another pipe...) this wasnt gonna work for me as I already sold the stock one... i wasnt gonna go 2 months during a michigan summer without my bike.

So i contacted Yoshi, they said that I could send it in for repair and it would take about 6 weeks total... they called it a manufacturer defect.- also not gonna work for me

I waited a few weeks till I have the extra cash to buy another pipe... I contacted motorcycle superstore and explained again about my pipe. they said I was still within the return period so I had them make me a label and what not for the return. I bought my new Pipe and when it got here I swapped them, put the old on in the new box and sent it back... expecting my refund in 8 weeks or so...

9.5 weeks later I come home from work to find a big Yoshi box sent to me from motorcyclesuperstore.... hmmmm.... When I called 3 days ago they couldnt give me any update on my return and why my refund was not issued yet. I guess this is why... I called them and explained again that this was a return... not a repair and I was within my time frame. They said that now it is outside of the time frame and the pipe was repaired so I cannot return it for a refund... I HAVENT EVEN OPENED THE NEWEST BOX!!!!

I am soooo frustrated... they wouldnt let me speak with a supervisor or manager or even the actual return department... I told them I plan on posting reviews everywhere I can and never recomend them to anyone as well as contact the BBB.

Lesson learned... I will take my purchases elsewhere and I recomend the same to everyone here.

- I will let you know if I am going to have to sell the Rs-5 CF slip on to recoup any of my money.

I had typed up an entire response, and then i looked on the website returns section.

"Items which have been used or installed on your bike will not be accepted for refund."

So the unfortunate answer is, aside from the long wait which is BS, they were well within their policy outlined on there site.

This is what I was told over the phone except they specifically told me that due to it being a manufacturer defect and within the 60 day period I could return it for inspection then refund. The rep even suggested that I buy a new one, return the bad one using that box so I didnt have to go without a pipe for 2 months....

I just finished a chat session with a rep... its pretty long but here seems to be the 1 big part that throws a red flag for me...

-----------------------

Received:
Also let you know that you should wait until the warranty is finalized before you consider buying a new one

Sent:
Well I am telling u now... that I was instructed to do what I did by your customer service... I bought the 2nd pipe through u guys... and shipped this one back as instructed.... even made sure it was "for a refund not repair"

Sent:
wrong... that was not mentioned at all

Sent:
I havent even opened this box that you guys sent to me.... I already got a replacement from you that was not defective that has been on my bike since june

Received:
It was though. It's actually very clear that this is the information that was given to you based on order notes

Received:
that go in every order detailing exactly what was talked about

Received:
You could try and sell it on Ebay if you won't want to keep the repaired one

Sent:
why would a rep tell me it was ok to buy another one and send this one back in the box that the new one came in then?

Sent:
how does that make sense at all

Received:
it doesn't show that they did

Sent:
of course it does not.....

Sent:
I specifically had to ask if it was ok because in the return notes it says to use the original box which I did not have any more... I called and spoke with someone over the phone to verify

Sent:
they said that would be fine

Sent:
hence why i did it

Sent:
seems you guys have some pretty selective notes that "involve every detail"

Then a little later -

Received:
It also shows that the rep let you know that if you bought a new one, there is a possiblity that this one would get shipped back to you as well if they can repair it

Sent:
u think i wanted to spend allmost a grand and wait 8+ weeks to get half my money back?

Sent:
no the rep didnt

Sent:
and how do u now see these notes when before u didnt?

Received:
I did...

is this in a chat? ^^^^ You should call them and speak to them in person, try and remember who you spoke to who told you all that shipping info,

get your cell records or whatever phone you used and make a note of the time and date,

them suggesting to sell on ebay, looks like they are ready to walk away from the table, if its was a manufacture defect its yoshi's fault and they should eat it, and MS should send you a refund, you even bought another pipe from them, and they are acting like this, NO BUENO!

yeah.... It was in chat and I kept the records. I have notes and dates for phone talks but at the time everything seemed awesome... I was super impressed how they were handling it and if I would have gotten my refund (even this late) they would have an amazing review from me... this is just insane though... I submitted everything I had to the BBB along with this most recent chat log... if that doesnt go anywhere I will have to sell the pipe... idk how it looks right now since I havent opened it yet but I assume brand new refurb from yoshi... ill prob take a 75$ hit at least between shipping/ sale price to get it out the door though

That's pretty whack. I'd personally just sell the pipe, and forget about MSS. I don't do good with experiences like this, especially when it's gone this far. The CS guy is acting like a little child, that's not how you talk to your customers... even if they are wrong.

This is sad, I've had nothing but good experiences with MSS, I choose them over STG because they ship to me so much faster (3 days instead of 7), and if there is any issue with fitment (gear) they'll pay for the first exchange.

Ive always had good luck with them too. Sorry to hear that. I wander if it would have been easier for them just to send u a new CF exhaust tip...

I asked them about this. I have the full CF not just the tip, When I spoke to yoshi and sent pics they said its rivited together and they were going to replace the endcap. I havent opened it still but I assume thats what they did.

after the BBB got a hold of the case it took a couple days for MS to call me. I followed up be emailing a summary of the phone call to the BBB. Below is my most recent update after the phone call.

I just recieved a phone call from someone at motorcycle superstore. They talked with me for 23 minutes begining at 3:35PM EST asking about the details of what happened. After explaining myself to them I was told the following:

"We cannot issue a refund baised off you are telling me. If you could provide a chat log that shows you were told you could return the item in the box of the new purchase for a refund then we might be able to work something out. Since you can only say this happened over a phone conversation there is nothing at all we can do. "

That was the generalized end of the phone call. They refuse to offer any resolution and seem to have selective records of what I was instructed to do in order to get a refund. I was instructed originally that my item had to returned within 60 days for a refund and they admited to saying this. Evidently what was meant to be said was "your item has to be returned within 60 days to be considered eligable for a refund". This is the worst customer service I have ever seen as well as poor communication. Motorcycle Superstore is offering no resolution whatsoever.
