This is my first bike. I took the MSF course at Kirkwood a couple weeks ago and felt pretty comfortable on the 250. I've spent a few hours in one of the Rockwell Collins parking lots up here and intend on doing the same again tomorrow (and most of next week). I won't be on the freeway down to Iowa City for awhile. Riding the bike is easy enough, I just want to get on top of my stopping and swerving before I become an example for the rest of the forum. I'm working on filling up my bag of skill before my bag of luck runs out. I also have gear that I wear every time (which is more than 95% of the riders up here can say).
In other news, I got a quote for full coverage on my '06 600RR from Country Financial/Insurance on Council St in CR. Get this: $176/year FULL COVERAGE. GEICO quoted me $2300, and progressive $2400. Even State Farm was like $1800/year. The company is an A+ rated company that has been around forever so it's not like I just gave some money to a stranger. I had to insure my car with them too, which was also the most inexpensive quote I received (about $1100/year).
Anyway, I want to get some more miles on the bike before I venture out (I pm'ed ATown a few weeks ago). I'd be great to meet up later in the summer though.
