2012 CBR600RR first look. Not happy.

So I went to the dealership to look at the bike they ordered in for me. I was really happy at first. Got to sit on it and everything, but then I noticed scratches on the tank. The front tire was muddy as ****! And it had dirt all over it, this is suppose to be a brand new bike for 12,500.40 and yeah I'm looking at this so I told them I'm not paying you till it's all cleaned up, I didn't get to see the Kms either, hopefully it's under 30km or means it's been used, I never got photos of the marks thou... What do y'all think I should do?Click image for larger version

Personally I think you can do better. But I haven't been to a dealer since 2009.

Even if it didn't have a scratch on it that seems like too much money to me for a 2012.
I don't think I'd consider signing a damn thing till that price gets dropped at least 1,000.

Does it have ABS? The ABS models are more money.

Don't quote me here but I think the base color (red) non ABS 2013's are supposed to be 12,500.

Nope no abs. There is 3000 off on this one, I have 1000 in taxes cause I'm from Saskatchewan and buying in Alberta, and there is 600 for setting it up. I washed the paper so I can't look at it, but I have not put anything down I'm going to call dealers in sk and see if I can get a better deal. And I'm not sure if I would like the abs?

I wouldn't do it. Wait till someone who lives in Canada chimes in. There are is still plenty of 2012's out there so don't be in a rush and get forked over.

Maybe you could start a new thread and have Canadian owners in the title so it attracts their attention. I don't have any taxes in my state.

Something like "Canadian 2012 owners what did you pay OTD?".
(Out the door)
You don't need 600 in the title, that's why were all here lol

Seems retarded they want to charge $600. for setup. They don't have to do **** to them. They come 99.9% assembled.
Probably less than 1/2 hour to put together. But it is something a lot of dealers want to charge you for.

Dude. I live in vancouver. Bikes are pretty expensive here. I think I saw an ad in Craigslist today for 2012 cbr600rr all black( which I check regularly for no reason) for 9999$ brand new + PDI/frt + tax= still it would be under what u are paying ...
9999+ ~700 frt/pdi+ tax(12%) = 11982.
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/va...737300271.html

Negotiate it to 11500ish all in.

seems a bit pricey, but I don't know prices of new models. the setup fee and all that bullshit is nothing but bull. tell them to just give you the crate, you can add oil, water, and brake fluid yourself.

The bike should be perfect when you buy it and they should let you know about the mileage. That's extremely dishonest that they didn't and I would view it with maximum suspicion.

MSRP in Canada is currently $10,600 (Canadian) on Honda's website - they're dropping $3000 from that because the 2013 models are coming in! See link.

http://motorcycle.honda.ca/sport/cbr600rra/2012

That price is ridiculous (I live in Italy, but am Canadian so I occasionally check out prices in Canada for when I move back in case I want another RR). I'd send and e-mail with that link and ask him what the story was with the discount. Have you looked into prices and import duties for buying it in the US?

As for the dirt on the tires, was there any under the exhaust? They might have just rolled it through some muddy ground (not smart on their part), but a wider spray of dirt would suggest they rode it, especially with scratches on the tank. Sounds like a crappy dealer and remember you may need to work with them again in the future.

I agree with everyone else! You could do way better! Last year in December I talked a dealership down to 10 OTD. And that was before the 13s came out.

It looks like they put it in the "used" section. Maybe keep shopping.

Bikes have gone up a lot! Back in 2004 I paid 8200 for mine OTD and that was considered a really good deal at the time... Also the Honda was about 1K more than any other jap 600.

Right, I suppose it would come up a bit if tax weren't included, but the dealer fees are pretty arbitrary. You could send them a price from somewhere else and see if they're willing to negotiate - you save yourself some time and hassle; they get rid of older stock. It's a great bike, but you and they both know it's old and being replaced by a newer model so they should try to be more flexible. They can sell a bike or keep a decoration, probably for a while.

I'd go for the 2011 you mentioned in the other thread that's way cheaper as long as it's new. It's the same bike aside from colors.

I live in Calgary, AB. I don't know what prices are for new bikes so I checked out my dealer's site. Wow, they have ridiculous prices here too. They're selling a 2007 for $10,499. I got my 2007 for 7,500 all in and that was 3 years ago! Stupid thing is, they have a 2009 and a 2011 priced the same. Hmmmm, I wonder which year buyers would prefer?
