got my first chance at a 08 GSXR 600

I am no drag racer by any means, i actually have no intrest in drag racing, im more of a track guy but hey i was open to the offer. Just in power i am not impressed at all with the new GSXR here is a link to my myspace vids check it out!
(this was on a dead end street that is next to a GM plant that closed down a year ago, so no traffic)

because it makes its power at higher rpm ,you dont feel it pull until around 8 grand .

its a track motor not a street bike.Which bike was shifting so soon ? was liike 2 gears almost right after each other.neither one sounded liek they got into high rpm.

they were both at redline. Im not a drag racer but the other guy goes to the drag strip often, not on that bike yet, he has just got it broken in.

with the gixxer if you want a fast start you gotta scream the motor and eat the clutch or its gonna be a dog off the line. There is pretty much no power under 8 grand and it feels like its missing a cylinder until it gets the rpm it needs. It takes getting used to ,but once the launch is messed up there isnt much chance of catching up.

in a proper race the cbr would be beat every time after the 60 foot .

you can tell the rpms werent high enough at the launch for the GSXR .

thanks for that good info, i dont know if you read my first post it said it is a dead end street behind the af base there is no one out there and no reason for traffic to drive down. It is an ideal place to practice doing whatever you do.

Panties stuck in your a$$? you obviously took my comment the wrong way. "Was that a race" meaning you had him by 4 or 5 bikes once you past the camera. In other words...damn the 08 gixxer is that slow?

my bad i took it the wrong way. It just seems like people tend to be so negative and treat everyone like noobs. Im not speaking about 600rr.net, forums in general. This is actually one of the best i have been on.

Yes, 11 pounds makes it a fatty, without a doubt. In this class of bike every pound counts. That's one major reason why the '07 & '08 RR's own every 600 class bike on paper and on the road.

I rode the 08 couch also...sorry, the 08 GSXR 600 and wow what a fat feeling bike. Everything is soooooooooo slooooooooow. Steering response is window licker speed and it really feels like your riding on a lazy-boy! I honestly feel sorry for all the soon to be gsxr riders.

what ? on paper ? what the hell good is that.Check a race grid and see whos in front ,its not the honda.

that extra 11 pounds is at least centrally located, there is 11 pounds under the passenger seat on the honda .

i like the rr ,but to say it owns other bikes on paper is like saying she'd be prettier if she wasnt so ugly.

from 11 pounds ? come on guys the bandwagon is overflowing .

not saying what you should feel or that im right ,just saying i think the weight/fat thing is a little overblown.

I really don't care about the scale weight...I'm sure it's fast and has lots of power but man I couldn't wait to get off that thing. Now the Duc 848 is a fat cow but feels amazing....yet 1st gear sucks! It's all personal taste...I wouldn't get all wound up about it. Look at the 03rr when it came out everyone said it tipped the scales.
