I have a set of tecknic lightning boots that I have worn into work. You get a few strange looks but they are fairly comfy

Sorry for the stupid question, but what and where do you find ankle/knee guards? Am I just calling it something else? Is this something I put on top of regular shoes, like when I'm riding to work?

well ankle gaurds u would wear under your pants, not ur shoes. right above ur shoes. but they tend to move so im not so sure.

Knee guards would something that attaches like what ud wear for your skateboard, rollerblades.. whatever.. only more protected.

I wear the Joe Rocket boots to work when I commuted on my bike. They look good, extremely comfortable and so fourth almost as comfy as my sketchers. Check out the mercury boot.

Leave a pair of work shoes at...well, work. Boots are VERY important to wear any time, any where.

Well that doesn't sounds very safe at all, now does it...

Just bring a pair of shoes in a back pack, or like Kensaku said, leave them at work...

i don't understand how riding boots look any wierder than any other street shoes, unless you tuck your jeans into them or something crazy like that.

A friend of mine that has been riding for years went down on some gravel in his neighborhood while he was wearing sneakers...he now has a permanent gouge in his ankle. wasn't pretty then, and still ain't pretty now. I learn from his mistake even if he didn't. He still rides in regular shoes and can be seen without a helmet most of the time. :bitchslap:

The Icon Superduty boots are perfectly normal looking. I wear them all the time when I need to both ride and look "normal".

for sure! a guy at bike night over here in LA wrecked and ended up losing his foot due to not having ankle protection. after that happened... we had our best in store month for selling alpinestars smx+ boots (excellent for street and track... and fit underneath jeans too).

I find it so much easier to learn from the mistake of others. I saw 3 experienced riders cash on separate rides within one week...that was all that it took for me to stop riding in tims, jeans, and leather jacket. it was full leathers for canyons and full commuting gear for my rides to work. I keep shoes in my office.

i always wear my boots no matter where i am going and if i look weird cause i am trying to protect my body parts so what i do not give a flying F any one of those people looking at me and thinking that i am a weirdo will end up being the car driver trying to run me off the road or cutting me off
so guess what bro smarten up riding a bike is not a fashion statement and it is not about looking pretty its about safety just my .02 cents so be careful evreyone and wear your gear ;-)
ps.
i know some of you will say moe shut the hell up :bitchslap: i got to be color coordinated which is cool but being protective of your body is way cooler to me and yes my gear match up in color as well
