Race bike nearly complete

A few more odds and ends, but she's almost ready

before:

after:

The color really didn't come out to well in the pics, but it's a retna burning neon orange.

Rather than do a repaint mid year, Ray and I decided to do the white now and lay some yellow vinyl over for the first part of '05. I need to move up, this is some added motivation.

Had the rules/ classification not changed, we would have been JR last year

But now there's some more opportunity for contingency and race wins before we never see a top 10 again

Geckos' got it right.

I still have two gixxers, gotta keep up with those also...

Was ready to bump to JR last year, but because of the classification change.. you know the story.

My target is to enter as many races as I can and get the points and race# combo to bump by June... although, since we'll be on the track with the EX's anyway, it may not be as hot of an issue as it is now.

Who knows.. I just looking forward to April when hopefully the snow will be gone and we can ride again.

if you met the requirements to bump up to JR before seasons end you should be able to start the year as a AM....the bike looks hot!

wow! is that the same bike? the frame was red before and now everything is powder coated black? looks like it took a lot of time and effort, but at least it looks great!

I did all the work myself. The frame was epoxy coated, basically a 2 part paint that gets mixed and sprayed, but does not require any heat to cure. It's typically used on bare frames of cars.

The bodywork was sprayed with primer/surfacer to help fill some of the very minor imperfections. Wet sanded down to 600 grit, then sprayed with 3 coats of white base. Then another 4-5 coats of orange (or blue depending on panel), then 3-4 coats of clear. I painted 3 bikes at the same time so it was't too bad between mixing and switching colors.

Paint total for the 3 bikes was about $300, but I did use some materials I had left over from last season.

BigT, I am starting off as AM, I'll lay yellow vinyl over the white plates for the start of '05. I didn't want to have to do a repaint mid season.

Thats awesome. It got me to thinking that it would be cool to see a Ducati with that scheme in the colors of the Italian flag.

I thought you must have had enough points to be in the AM class. I guess I was right, we'll have to kick some ass with the RR's come April

YEah, I think any of last years am's needed the required point to bump to JR, or they could not start this year as AMs. I had more than enough points and races, but could go JR in '04 because a hold was put on due to the reclassification this year.

So, we'll be ripping it up.

I'm planning on running mostly HW classes, but I'll sign up for a few MW on Sunday and see how it goes before I fully commit to which classes I'll run.

How about you?
