A Great Day at Laguna Seca (Pacific Track Time, April 7)

First time at Laguna Seca was today. Almost forgot my boots. Got an earful from the track nazi for not having a stock pipe [Laguna has a ridiculously low bike noise limit of 90 decibels for private, non-sanctioned events!]. Got spooked after witnessing one highside and another near-highside at T3. Went over berms in the corkscrew -- twice. One frightening episode of rear tire skipping.

But it turned out to be an absolutely beautiful day.

All photos by D&W Images.

Nice pics! I think I saw you today at 7:20am next to Laguna Seca in a truck w/ a red RR in the back. Was it you? Um, just kinda jealous.... I am a great photographer if you ever need someone to take pics!

Hmmm...I wasn't in a truck, but I had a green Toyota Highlander SUV towing my RR in a trailer. Is that what you saw?

Come to think of it, I don't even recall any other red RRs there yesterday...

Hahahaha...yeah I did have onboard video, even though videocams are "against Laguna policy" (I swear, Laguna is run by nazis.)

I'm done capturing the video from tape to computer...gimme a day or two to get around to finding a good lap to save as a clip.

Most of the other RRs were black. I think there was an orange one.

Yes I am. Good eye! :lol2: (Actually I do have the bolt. It's the damn well-nut that I'm missing. Nothing to screw the bolt into...)

I was kinda disappointed too, but I think there may be reasons for this. The corkscrew is an incredibly difficult turn to master. The ideal line from turn 7 through the corkscrew is hard to nail, especially since it's blind. Most riders end up taking real conservative lines. As such, if they were to be photographed, it would probably look like they were just floundering around in the corner, not very impressive. Takes a highly skilled rider to be able to pull it off. Kinda like these guys:

Anyone have any idea who they are? They look pretty good. :lol2:
