Unhappy Unreal !!!!

I have all the respect in the world for the Japanese culture but this is so inhumane, as a Diver and long time Ocean sport fan all I can say is that I am speechless......very sad and disturbing

Both are harsh. It's better to not slaughter either. There is a way out. We can make a difference if we choose to stay away from abused animals. Keep it real. Don't support killing of whales or dolphins. Stand up!

That's wrong

I've seen a lot of things like that up with the natives. It's one thing to hunt a kill a animal one at a time in the wild for food, but to slaughter them by the mass like that.......it's just wrong.

Why do the vendors want us to buy there stuff when they never have it in stock?

A-freakin-men dude... I mean, if you're gonna kill it, kill it. Don't just cut it and let it bleed out and spazz like that. Damn...

there is alot more going on. its a cruel and nasty world!

for such a scene like that, if anything is to blame....its MONEY!
for the most part, greed, lust or want for money can make a man or woman do crazy things.

That sh1t made me literally sick to my stomach. I can't stand animal cruelty and that's just plain unnecessary. I wish I hadn't seen that video.

Yes, it's quite shocking, but the locals aren't going to change. Keep in mind a lot of Japanese people don't even know about this - it's a very localized practice. Even eating whale, which was done across most of the nation, isn't as popular as it once was and a lot of people don't touch it. The Japanese government wants to protect traditions - hahaha, they mean votes - so the whale hunt continues under the guise of research. The dolphin hunt is so unknown that there's no need to even protect it. In the area most famous for it, Taiji, I understand there are signs warning of rockslides to keep tourists out of areas where they might snap a picture, but there's one for you from a site detailing the hunt below. Oh, I've eaten whale at a good restaurant and have to say it wasn't particularly good, though not bad. The owner offered it to me as a "special gift" and so I couldn't very well refuse without causing enough offence that I probably wouldn't be able to go back.

Edit: By the way, in case you're wondering why the government wants to protect these rights, it's because rural votes count for more than urban votes in Japan, AND city voters hardly vote.

Having swam with dolphins a number of times, I can't imagine why anyone would want to do that to them..

Wow that chit is fucked up. Seriously what is the reason for doing this? I have a feeling since fishing is a large part of Japans food source and culture that they probley blame the dolphins for eating the fish or something.

I would agree with the people here. We should round up these people in a net and shoot them one by one.

Yes, this happens in many parts of the world. Korea, there are places where they still skin cats alive and put them in boiling water. In Cambodia, there are places where the customes are to sacrifice one of every live stock of the grooms as a wedding ritual. I saw this on TV, the family dog got it too! They just slash their throat and let them bleed out. It was tough seeing the ole faithful dog get murdered like that, for nothing. My lady is Cambodian and she is from their. Not all Cambodians do this ritual. Only a select few in the country. In Japan, these paractices towards marine life are on a larger scale. Why do you think they have so much sushi? We have ripped on them for whale killings over the past decades also. It is the way they go about it that is wrong and the large numbers they kill at one time.

They do that **** to Dogs too, skin them alive... Dolphin is the 2nd smartest animal on earth isnt it? They have also been known to protect and help humans stranded at sea.

wrong, dolphins are a higher animal than a fish. and when i fish, i dont slit the fishes throat and watch it bleed to death. i chop its head off, cleanly.

that video was disturbing.

yeah the agree that its not cool. but we are going to have to live with the fact that some parts of the world live their own way even if we can't do anything about it. what i thought was more messed up was that they lie about it being whale meat and not dolphin.
