23 seconds into the fight, I have never felt so bad for someone.

You felt bad for who?

I felt bad for Gracie...seems like he's at that point where he'd do anything for money.

that fight was before the matt hughes fight. He continued to fight over in Japan and didn't have the best of records over there either. It was like 2-2-1 or something like that. Far different from when he was younger.

If you guys remember, in the early days of UFC there were no weight classes. This is typical Grace style fighting. Go to the guard, take a beating and submit your opponent. Gracie is why the UFC is what it is today.

Any of you guys ever do any training? I started in 1982 under Grand Master Tae M. Kwon, a 9th degree black belt in Hapkido. I then went into the Chuck Norris System in 1990 under Master John Barrett. Some of my buddies took classes at Gracie's dojo that is literally a block from my house here in Torrance. I have thought about starting up again but don't know if I should continue karate or Hapkido or try Jiu Jitsu. I don't know if these old bones can take the Jiu Jitsu training. LOL If any of you are taking a system of any sort, mention what it is. I'm looking to get into something new. There are so many different types of disciplines offered today. Thanks.

I currently take Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Actually a student under Royler Gracie's school, who is Royce's older brother. My instructor is Royler's rep in the USA.

Anyhow, love that move that Royce put on Akebono, which is called the omaplata. And yes, Royce is getting a bit out of his prime, but you can't deny the man knows his jiu-jitsu.

It's actually really just an omaplata...Royce just modified it to put most of the pressure on the wrist instead of the elbow and shoulder which is where you usually feel it.
I just remembered, I learned this move from Royler himself, at his seminar in 2005. In his seminar earlier this year, we went over 2 other Omaplata variants again. He demonstrated the move on me to show the finishing touch. I can tell you that he had such a perfect leverage position with the finish that it took very little force on his part to make it hurt like hell!
