my 07 but not my fault...

****UPDATE PAGE 2****

bear with me as i type this with one hand.
last sat i was involved in a collision on my 07 cbr600rr.
i(blue dot) was on my way home. i was going about 40 mph which is the speed limit on this major road in seattle. there was a car(green dot) making a legal left turn in the left lane of my direction. he blocked my view of (red dot) a guy trying to make an illegal left turn right in front of me. i only had time to lock up my front brakes and i remember endo'n into his back passanger side door/winow.
here is a pic of the intersection.

i remember bouncing off his car and struggling to breathe in the fetal position because the wind was knocked out of me. i remember looking at my left wrist because it hurt and it was pointed in a remarkable direction that i didnt know possible. my left shoe came off and i could tell from the direction of my sock that it had to be broken as well. my right arm was pouring blood from it going through thr back window. as i looked to the sky i saw countless faces telling me not to move and yada yada. i was so pissed because i know that this was not my fault and no one in there right mind would take a left there.
to make a long story short, i spent 3 days in harborview. had surgery on my left wrist. they put a screw in there. it was broken and dislocated.
my left big toe was dislocated and my second metatarsal was broken.
my right arm had multiple lacerations where i needed 23 stiches.
i have a lacerated kidney and adrenal(sp) gland. and a bruised right lung.

i'll be wearing a cast for 3-6 months.
guy driving had no insurance.
i had no unissured motorist coverage but i had personal medical coverage.
and full coverage on my bike.

that sux man. good luck on the recovery. i broke my left hand when a cager hit me 7 months ago and it still hasnt healed right. from what i hear the wrist is the worst area to break because it takes the longest to heal.

those are the worst kinds of accidents...the ones where you know for a fact that it was completely the other guys fault. did the other guy stick around to accept responisibility? even if he doesnt have insurance i would haunt the guy for compensation cause that is seriously messed up.

hope you get well soon!

^^^Yep. Unless the assclown driver sped away, if it was me, I'd be contacting a lawyer asap. I'd make sure the p.o.s. that caused this to happen paid for every cent of my medical bills AND pain and suffering compensation. Jesus, I get fired up when I hear this. NO insurance?? Where are the police to arrest that **** right there!?! I talked about this in a lic. plate ticket thread a couple of days ago. Hope you will be getting out soon and you'll be back on two wheels bro! ...and when you're better show no mercy!!

dude stuck around and im going to nail his ass to the wall.
i bartend for a living and without a functional hand... im screwed.

i wasnt wearing a jacket so the arm is my fault.
i was wearing a HJC ac-12 yikes 3
that thing worked flawlessly.
and i was wearing alpinestar street gloves(dnot know the exact model)

the guy was let go at the time with 2 tickets.
1 was illeagal turn
other was for no insurance.
the detective called me and asked about injuries. if its a felony, misdomeaner, or just tickets is still up in the air. i'd really like to see this idiot get the book thrown at him. but at the very least i would like my bills paid for like you said dblR.

Sorry to see you were hurt, and I'm glad you're healing up.

I'm not sure it would have helped, but your position in your lane of travel may not have been the best. As the blue dot, I would have been riding in the right-hand portion of my lane to not only see around the green car to identify oncoming threats but to give me time to maneuver in case the green car decides he wants my lane.

Errr, I don't think that's the actual picture of him and the cars involved. I think that's just a picture he's using to articulate to us what happened...

Sorry about your accident, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you did not have uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, you're likely not covered for the damage to your motorcycle. Collision does not cover situations where you are not at fault and the other driver is uninsured. If he had hit you and run and never been found, your collision would cover. But if he stays and is found to be uninsured, then the only coverage would be uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. Memo to everyone; don't decline this coverage, for this very reason.

I hope I'm wrong in this case, but that is my understanding of insurance coverage. Sue his a$$.

Damn, that intersection looks dangerous. Once the green dot stops, you're kinda screwed. There are a couple things you can do in that situation to help yourself out. First, if you slow down and give yourself some space between you and the guy in front of you, the red dot can make his turn prior to you getting to the intersection. Alternatively, you can speed up and ride right on the ass of the car in front of you. You will be through the intersection before red dot has a chance to pull out.

I'm not trying to second-guess you. I realize that sometimes you just get screwed. I'm tossing those ideas out so maybe they can help someone else.

In the long run, you crashed your bike, but you got some morphine and some sympathy from a hottie. You're pretty close to breaking even at this point.

so they totalled the bike.
how does one buy back a bike?
i'd like to stunt out my 07 and get another for daily use.

any insight would be great.
also from the images can anyone tell if the frame is bent or just the subframe or any reason why the buy back would be a bad idea?
thanks

You have to buy the bike from the insurance company. I believe they run around 1600 to buy back. If you need a lawyer i've got a good one whos settling my case right now, second time i've used them. They are based out of Renton [hardawick n Pendergast]. From the pictures, i cant tell if the frame is tweaked or not. Kinda looks like the rear subframe is broken thou. Good luck bro n heal up quick.

Good to hear you're relatively alright! The bike looks remarkably intact considering the accident, but I guess all the bike ever did was brake, and then lose rider (you).

You went end-over and slammed into the car and got broken :p

I think you'll be plenty taken care of by way of the law, in terms of the driver at fault. Afterall, he got ticketed for making the left where he wasnt' supposed to. Make sure you get an experienced Moto-lawyer. He'll have a field day with your case!

Your favorite button was my nightmare when I was in the hospital. I'm not too big on pain medicine (i.e. Morphine) and really only used it when I had pain I couldn't withstand. Afterall, I knew I was hurt. But when it was morning and the nurse came in and saw my morphine, she was like, "oh you didn't use much...here...*click click click click click*" and i'm like..."OH ****, NO!"

You can imagine what happened after that. I was so messed up! hahahaha

Couldn't crap for days!!! hhaha

Get well soon man, and the riding community would love to see you get back in the saddle!

Be well!
