bike running hot and killing battery?
Last night my buddy and I went to bike nite in Sharon pa. (we live in erie). anyways, my bike seemed to be running hot. On the way down, I figured it was just because it was 80 degrees F out. On the way home, it was only about 60-70, and while riding my bike would be about 174 deg. , but if we stopped at a red light, it would climb to over 200. Once it gets to 220, the fan would kick on and it would drop a few degrees. That can't be normal.... my buddy's gixxer only went up about 5 degrees at the light.
Also, we stopped to get gas. we pulled in and bs'd for a bit, started up and pulled to the pump. got gas, started up (struggled a lil) and pulled back over to the parking spot.... after about 15 min, went to start it..... wouldn't turn over? ... weak battery. (this happened right after I bought it too) I just replaced the battery 3 weeks ago. The guy I bought it from a month or so ago said HE just replaced the battery also.
I rode it home after jumpstarting it (almost 2 hr ride) and when I got home, I shut it off and restarted it with no problem...maybe a lil slower than normal, but it started right up.
any ideas where to start?
