Oil Leak

Should the plastic oil fill cap have a washer on it?
My bike has been leaking some around the cap which eventually ends up on my tire... Maybe it's just that i have a little too much oil and should drain some.

Yes there should be an O-ring under the filler cap.

Crank the bike and let it warm. Shut the bike off and hold it level with tires on level ground. Look through site glass and check oil level. If you're between the high and low marks then your oil level is fine.

As long as it is close enough to the same size and makes that seal it should be fine. From what I remember the OEM one is rather thick. So if you used a thin one it may crap out when things get hot or over time. Anyway, the part number is 91307-KF0-003 and it is around $1.50 at your local dealer. It's a 18x3 O-Ring.
