Question Turn signals will NOT turn off

As some of you know, I recently bought a salvaged 07 600RR... 102 miles on her. have to replace the entire left side fairings.
My question here is, do the turn signals double as running lights because mine DO NOT turn off. They just stay lit with everything else while running. however, when you do switch on the signal, it flashes. Turn if off, back to running light...
Is it supposed to do this or do I need to find a bad splice somewhere that the original owner made (He started repairing it but did more harm then good, there was scotch tape on some of the splices!!!

thanks gang

Yeah, it's normal. You can change the wiring if you like to make it so that they're not running lights though.
