Hooked the battery to the bike wrong way...

So being a complete idiot and jackass, I took the battery out to tenderize it because it wouldn't turn over and when I hooked it back up, I hooked the damn battery on the opposite way. The bike has no power now, I am not sure if its due to the battery or because I blew something up on the bike. Which fuses do I need to replace or did I damage the computer on the bike? How royally screwed up am I? I was going to get another battery all together but the damn dealer wanted $150 for a new battery! W T F. Damn I want to kick myself in the ass right now.

Check your main fuse in the battery compartment. Check all the fuses after that. T

ummm im not sure if you damaged the computer. you just need to look at the fuse box under the seat to see which ones are damged. i know on cars they have an ecu fuse to protect it from potential stuff like that

30 amp fuse next to the battery

Its a 2003 600rr, I just checked both fuses the 20A and 30A and they both are good. Problem is its still no power, man I swear if its not one thing its something else damnit.

Try your local Interstate battery store. You dont have to go to the dealer for everything on these bikes. You should be able to get a battery for about 70 bucks or so

Check your other fuses. Behind the left mid fairing? Are you getting fuel pump whine just no lights? T

the ecu should technically protect itself (I have faith in honda)

make sure to check all fuses. Then check battery voltage.

your battery should be dead either from one wrong attempt. If a fuse blew the first time .. than thats the end of story.

let us know what it is ... connecting a battery the wrong way sounds like something anyone can do absentmindedly. It would be good to know how fix this.

Take the battery to Advance Auto or Murrys, they will test your Battery for free and tell you if it is bad.

Yeah I was running late for class so I guess I wasn't thinking too clearly and hooked it up the wrong way. It was weird tho, on the freeway I saw this dumbass just rear end this Honda Fit because the idiot wasn't paying attention in stop and go traffic. That could have been me if I rode my bike today! Probably better not to ride when Im rushing too, more prone to making mistake. Anyways, I'll take the battery to a local auto parts and have them test it and maybe I can find a cheaper battery rather than $150! There is no whine from the fuel pump when I put the key and turn it to the ignition.

Also, I am quite embarrass to even mention this but when I first found out the bike wouldn't crank over, I imediately put the battery on the charger setting at 12V 6A for a quick 1hr charge....

I am looking at the wiring diagram and I see a 30A fuse and a 20A fuse. Is there anymore that I should check before I start tearing into this thing? Both 30/20A fuses are good, it seems like the 30A fuse is not getting any power tho

if the ground strap is securly in place, that's impossible. are you sure you're checking the right 30A fuse? there's a spare beside the starter relay in a pouch. the REAL 30A fuse is under the red cap on the starter relay.

Are you pulling the fuse and looking at it? You can look at the top and not be able to tell. A meter will make a definite determination if it's good or bad. T

Problem solved. I am looking at the wiring diagram and I only see 2 fuses, one 30A and another 20A but there is ANOTHER 30A fuse. I think its the one you are referring to KS but thats the one that got blown and a simple swap fixed the issue. Thanks for all the help guys, I sure feel like a jackass today
