Thermostat/Temp gauge not working 2003

Hi guys im new here and this is my first real post. I was thinking of picking up a 03 cbr 600rr with 11k on it, but it has a problem the temp gauge on the cluster is not reading anything. The guy said he was gonna track the bike and took all the fairings off at the end of last season but chose not follow through with it and the temperature gauge was working at the end of last season before he took the fairings off. I was wondering is this a major issue any suggestions of things i could check would be great.

ditto, check your connections. I do believe if the connection is bad at the ECT Sensor, the ECU would throw a MIL light and subsequent code at you. the mis-connection could be at the ECU harness (unlikely) or the Dash (more likely).
