recently when i am driving after about 10 minutes i notice my rear under shock is starting to make a creaking noise when it takes a bump. Is this somehting usual or is it going bad? bike has 9400 on it

Are you sure it's the shock and not the chain hitting or something else?

could be the suspension linkage, not the shock. go out for a ride, come back and start bouncing the rear.

Check the spring on the rear for corrosion too, spring steel can make a creaking noise when rusting...

the purpose of pushing down on it was to find out where the noise is coming from...

linkage or shock? difference between a $20 part and a $150 rebuild.

OLD thread I know but mine just started doing this. If I sit on bike and bounce up and down it creaks or if I'm riding while I do turns or come to a stop it makes the noise. It's very annoying and I've never messed with my suspension I thought it was front forks but I stripped the fairings and with a help of a friend narrowed down the noise coming from the rear shock area. Taking it to the shop next week.

You need to lube the bearings in the swingarm linkages. And maybe some new seals.
