Electrical Problems

Hey guys I just had a quick question for anyone with electrical experence. I just bought my bike aprox two weeks ago and since then I have been just driving around the neighborhood generally the rpm has been less than 3k. Yesterday I replaced the alternator cover on my bike with no problems. Today I took my bike out and at a stop sign the bike stalled out on me and I could not get it started without poping the clutch. On my way home the electrical display went out no speed and tach was reading zero; however, my lights were still on and the eng. was running smoothly. I pulled into my driveway and turned it off then tried to start again with no luck. I'm currently charging the battery and was interested in any suggestions about what it could be. Thanks in advance

Check the wires to make sure they are not pinched in the stator cover. T
