Cant get right barend off

I have a new set of barends to put on my bike, since my left one fell off a couple weeks ago. I can't get the old one off the right bar.... it is loose (it has been loose since the day I put it on, I never could get it tight), but it just spins forever, I can turn the nut left or right for days and nothing happens. Any ideas on how to get it off? FYI it isnt the factory bar end, it is a set I bought a year or so ago.....

you need to hold the bar end then undo the screw, they are designed to spin like that, you can get them pretty tight but will always have abit of play.

I do hold the bar end, and the bolt still spins forever. Its weird I can turn it both ways forever and it doesnt do a thing.
