changed front sprocket.....now cant shift?

i just put a new sprocket on the front and everything went well until i went to put the shifter back together onto the shifting rod. the rod can be pushed in and out but wont shift at all now......

Red/Black

Pull the rod out some so that it isn't pushed into the engine. It should shift when you do that.

How hard did you push in on it?

There is a small tab inside the engine that keeps the shifter rod froom pushing it in. If you pushed hard enough and bent the tab... You have to take the clutch out to fix it.

Once you push it in, I think there is a little bushing on the inside that probably fell off and cannot just put it back on. Well maybe not but you have to get by the clutch to fix the tab.
