wiring gps

Hey guys i'm trying to figure out a way to wire my gps to the bike. I'm not very good with electrical work. Any insights? I want it to not have power when the bike is off.

My bike is red, black, clean, waxed, and fast.

I bought a cigarette lighter reciever thing that comes out to a positive and negative clamps that looks similar to mini jumper cables. Does anyone know if these would work to simply hook straight up to the battery?

I was also thinking of just cutting off the jumper cables part and soldering the wires to the running lights in the tail light..

Any help?

My bike is red, black, clean, waxed, and fast.

use the tail light wire to switch on a small 30 amp automotive relay then wire directly to the battery for the gps wire. that way it will turn on and off with the ignition switch, not overload any circuits, and not require any plugging in whenever you want to use it.
