Bad Luck...Bike Won't Start

Alright I have a 2003 600rr with everything stock. It has 11k miles.

The bike just got a new battery so thats not it.

All electronic turn on, headlights, gauges, turnsignals.

Fuel pump primes, bike tries to turn over I can feel compression coming out of the exhaust but bike wont start.

Any suggestions?

May be flooded. Try starting it with the throttle wide open. If that doesn't work then let us know.

Sounds like flooded... or bad fuel pump, if it primes though thats odd.

do you smell fuel while trying to start it? Chances are it's still flooded. you can try new plugs but they're like $75 for the set.

Just an idea but haven't tried it yet. When it's flooded. throttle wide open helps get air into the cylinder and gets it to start but when it's really flooded, The motor can't pump out the extra fuel cause the starter only turn the motor like 500 RPMs. If you can bump start it by pushing it down a hill or something... that helps but if you want to try my idea and let us know... it's your call.

try starting fluid... all you need is to get the motor running for a second or two to get it to blow out the extra fuel. ( a black cloud of smoke) I think starting fluid would work and is easier than pushing the bike. Let us know how it goes.

worse comes to worse open it all up and pull a plug. and make sure you are getting spark by grounding the plug to the frame while you turn it over.

All of it started randomly last friday. Got the new battery because the old one was stock and I figured it was the cause. I thought wrong apparently.

if it's flooded you should smell fuel. If you're outside then maybe not but you'd def notice if you're in a garage.

Fuel pump primes though. and all you did was chance the battery. (even though it was after the problem.)

hit the kill switch, turn bike on, go WOT and press the starter for 10-20 seconds to clear it out. after that turn it off. turn kill switch back to normal. and try starting it. might need to play with the throttle if you havent started in a while. also you have a PC III make sure no loose wires and the PC III lights up. not sure if PC III could cause no starts :(

If you don't smell fuel then it's not flooded... it's not getting fuel. If the pump primes then electrically it's working but you might have a clogged line... bad fuel pump... froze up injectors. I don't know what the effects are from freezing temps. When I was in the midwest... my garage stayed above freezing all the time.

If you want to pull off the tank to see if the fuel pump is working... pull off the tank then the fuel line at the throttle bodies. Put the fuel line in a cup or something then turn on the bike. if you get fuel then the pump works and the line isn't froze.

Hey I was having about the same issue with my 06. It turns on (gauges/lights/fuel pump primes) and it will just turn over and over and not catch. I def smell fuel when trying to start it (with and without holding throttle wide open to start). I live in so cali so freezing temps are not the problem. Its not my bas sensor, plenty of fuel, my pc is working fine, battery is fine and charged, couldnt start it by push start.....im lost.
A friend was letting me know if i unplug something on the left side of the bike on the frame I can get the FI light to blink and give me a code or something to tell me whats wrong...anyone know about this?

If you smell fuel... then the fuse for the fuel pump is good cause it's working. Maybe another fuse is shot but...

05'Scorpion you need to check to see if you have spark. That's your next step.

MidnMandrino needs to find out why he's not getting fuel.

Same things... bikes won't start... but 2 different reasons.

^^ iI'd start with one... but it wouldn't hurt to check them all.

While you're at it... if you have an air compressor and a long air gun that can reach inside the cylinder... I'd blow each one out to make sure there's not any fuel in the cylinder.
