why does the california model have a o2 sensor??and the other model don't?

why is it that the california models only have o2 sensors?
the funny thing is that my cbr has a o2 sensor and i live in greece.
a few other cbr's that i've looked at don't have o2 sensors...

Because, in California, they have the toughest emission standards of all the 50 states. They are required by law to have the O2 sensors installed due to the big smog problem in California.

What Quagmire said. No 02 sensor for me up in Canada, either. Though I hear our emissions laws are going to be changing, so things will probably change pretty soon.

My 07 Cali model doesn't have a O2 sensor on it. Am I missing something. The only difference that I new of was that the California models have a charcoal canister that connects to the gas tank. I thought the only models with an O2 sensor was European models.
