Rear Cowl

So this may sound like a noob question but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the rear seat cowl off the bike. I've got an '03 600RR. My last bike had a key that unlocked it and it popped up but this one has none. I've searched numerous places but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's on the left side, right above the rear shock res. If it's not there, than yikes!

Seat lock should be at the left side of the tail section

Thanks guys. I'm just used to the lock being in between the front and rear seat. Never would have thought to look down there.
