Oil Leak From Pulser

Asking this question for a relative. He has an '07 600rr. It's been leaving oil spots, just a drop or two, when he stops for about an hour or so. We took the fairings off and found the left side was covered in oil. Cleaned it up a little, fired it back up, and found that the pulser is where the leak is originating. The o-ring looks fine, but I guess that will be the next thing to try. Anyone else have this issue?

The cam position sensor? Even though the o-ring looks fine, its cheap to replace and all it takes is a small groove or tear to leak. Also, Make sure the bore that the sensor goes in is clean and free from gouges and scratches.

If all fails, I'd get a larger diameter o-ring ( sams size just thicker ) and try that before putting any kind of sealant in with the sensor. That way if you ever have to remove it again, you can take it out without having to clean all that crap out.

I know this is a year later, but I wanted to post an update in case anyone was searching and found the thread. The issue was just fixed in the last few weeks.

The oil was not leaking from the sensor. He had installed no-cut frame sliders and the bolt holding the slider to the mount was too long. It was resting against the engine case. After being on there for a couple thousand miles, the bolt finally cut deep enough into the engine to cause oil to seep through a small crack where the bolt was about to break through.

He resolved the issue by removing the sliders, thoroughly cleaning the area, then applying JB Weld. Seems to be holding well.
