Question Bike lags like crazy at ~8000rpm

Hi, so I was riding today and noticed when I tried to pass a car and my bike got to ~8000rpm is started to lag! By lag I mean it like slowed down, sped up, slowed down... in short pulses. In order to go faster I had to shift into a higher gear but of course being at only 8000 rpm I wasn't even close to peak HP. It seems to happen in all gears. My bike is an 03 CBR600RR. I also have a power commander but don't think that would effect it but maybe? I was thinking a fuel issue? Any help would be awesome! Thank you so much in advance!!!

what kind of power commander do you have? how many miles on the bike? it possibly could be your fuel pump.

try to tighten your battery connections first. The vibrations at those rpms have been known to cut it in and out if theyre loose.

if already tight, then yeah, fuel pump. common issue...

I think it's the Power Commander III USB. I suppose I can try a different mapping in addition to checking my battery connections. My bike has about 37000 miles but I did notice the issue in 1st gear at high RPMs probably back at 25000 miles. Yesterday was I think the first time I'd noticed it in higher gears.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Question

So I tried to recreate the problem again today and it seems to be gone. I got it up to ~13000 rpm at full throttle and no lag! It was cooler out today (70 vs 95F) so maybe that may have effected it. The only other variable I can think of is that I'm at a lower elevation. This may eliminate the Power Commander as the culprit since a bad mapping or faulty PC wouldn't create intermitent behavior would it?

Thanks again for all your help guys!
