Exclamation HELP!!! FI light comes on motor dies...

Okay, i purchased this bike a few months ago from a total noob, bike only had 2500 miles on it. Firstly i changed the oil right away, and again at 5000. The bike has been to the track a couple of time and recently the drag strip, where i used a little race gas (supposedly unleaded 110). Rode home after the strip, and installed new body work taking me about a week to complete...

Now everytime i try to get on it the FI light comes on, the motor dies, and i reset the ecu by flipping the kill switch off and back on then it takes off again. It i take it easy it will ride/sound/take off normally thru all gears up to 155mph. But everytime i try to accelerate quickly it shuts down...

To eliminate possible problems, I've already disconnect my pc3, dumped the old fuel, and checked my plugs..the bike starts fine, runs fine the majority of the time, until i try to get on it, then FI light and dies everytime...

The plugs looked good besides having oil on them and looking a little dark. With only 5500 miles could i need new plugs already!?

Your plugs shouldn't have oil on them bro. Means the rings are fried. As for the bike dying. It's probably a bad map on the PC3.

Oh are you sure it's oil BTW. A lot of people mix up carbon with oil.

Unhappy bad rings?

Thanks, i already disconnected the pc3 to eliminate that being a possible issue. The oil looked fresh, it spooked me to think i may have thrown some pre-mixed 2 stroke gas in there, so i dumped it. Yeah i was afraid that it would be something as major as bad rings. I'm about to pull the fairings and check em again, i'll let ya know what i come up with.

Thumbs down Yeap, there all pretty oily...

Yeah they all have a significant amount of oil on them. Time to rip into the motor, maybe it'll just be the valves or something more simple/cheaper than the rings. I'm calling a local honda guy tomorrow. I'll keep everyone updated...

Ok. Thanks for the update. While you're at it, check the valve guides. That much oil is a serious problem.

Lightbulb Compression test indicates rings are good! niiice...

Well my compression test indicated about [email protected] rpm on all four cyclinders. The bike sat for over a year and a half with out being ridin at only 2,000 miles in the desert. Making me think that the valve guides are gunna be dry rotted, again i will keep everyone posted.

$143.64 lesson learned...

Finally right before i yanked out the engine, on the advice of my father..I took it into the local dealer to have them diagnose my problems..come to find out i do have a bank sensor and i threw it in the new body work sideways..duh! Well my clymer manuel stinks, because it was not in the trouble shooting section. The valve seals are still leaking but i can deal with that in the off season..Anyways plastics will be back on tomorrow and i will have a nice signature...finally!

Arrow

P.S. Does anyone know if a 03 cylinder head will work on a 06?

So what was wrong with your bike? I didn't really understand it? Was it the BAS? Or the valve guides?

Yeah, it was the bank angle sensor, although the valve seals still leak. I just purchased an 03-04 head and will be looking to get a port and polish and maybe cams soon. I hope it works the part number on bike bandit was one number off. anyways back to business as usual. yee haaaw!
