Does it have a red connector on it? In the service manual its showing the wire going into the case using the rubber grommet to seal the clutch cover. if it is that, it is for the crankshaft position sensor.

Exclamation

I'm not sure about the red connector, but the wire does go into the case using the rubber grommet to seal the clutch cover.
if it is a crankshaft position sensor, it got damaged. I just got a service manual(my new bible), so i can look into it further and see if that is it.

are there any vendors on dotnet that can give me a good price for a replacement?

Yep, crankshaft position sensor.

I have a good one from an '06 motor if you're interested.

YES I am interested, thats what year my engine is 06, - how much?

I know that 03 to 06 the RR are really close, but what years should i look for on direct engine parts replacements? ( 05 to 06 )

do you need to reset anything when changing the crankshaft position sensor?
