Won't start...

Ok, I'm pissed. I wanted to go the the South Texas Motorcycle Expo today, and today is my only day of the 3 I could attend, and of course its the last day...

Geared up ready to go...push start button...nothing.

All lights on the guage are on, my HID lo-beam is on. When I push the start button there is no buzzing from the battery like its dead.

I've check the fuses everything seems fine. I checked 4 times to make sure the kickstand was up, but it was in N anyway.

I just bought this battery at the start of February! We did have a very cold night here last night...Is it possible that the battery is so dead that it won't make that buzzing noise? But then why would my gauge and lo-beam have enough power to come on? WTF!

I swear if its not one thing its another that costs money...

edit: Also, I don't have a thing to check the voltage on it, nor do I have a trickle charger, I should probably get one now though...

Try push starting it like you would a standard car.
Put it in 2nd pull in the clutch and have someone push you when u pick up a little speed let go of the clutch.
it might not work the first time but just try a couple of times.
same thing happened to me.

I have the same problem. i just bought a new battery saturday cause the other battery i had, which is 2 years old, died. I got my bike out on wednesday night and it started fine and I took it for a 5 minute ride. Everything was good, so i parked it out front and covered it for the night.
The next morning i was going to work and when i started it it turned over slow, but started. so i got to work and after work i went to start it, and nothing turned... so i ran it down the parking lot and jumped it into gear. was on my way home and after about 5 minutes the bike started to run really rough. the speedo and tach shut off like there was no power then when i got to a red light it died. so i had to get my bro to jump me. then after it was jumped I rode for another couple minutes trying to get home and it died again. had to jump it again... so in a nutshell the battery can't stay in the freezing weather or it won't hold a charge. if you had your battery out in the freezing weather most likely the cells won't keep the charge. hope that helps .

If you can think it, you can achieve it! everything is possible and nothing is impossible.

Get this sh!t...I was turning my bike around in the garage, when I got it facing the garage door so I could try and bump start it out (i have a little bit of an incline leading up to my garage door so I was gonna ride it out and down and try the bump start) I tried to just start it normal, and it STARTED! Took it for a short spin, pulled back into the garage, shut it off, then tried to start it again, nothing....

Why do you think it started when I turned it around the garage?

Heading to Sears to try and get a battery tender...

Ok for S's and G's, I tried starting it before I headed out to Sears...

The red light on the guage cluster was flickering when I turned the Kill Swith on, heard the fuel pump prime but it was VERY short. Tried starting it and the red light just kept flashing. Turned everything off, key and kill switch. Turned key back on, then kill switch, fuel pump priming like usual now. Hit the start button, VROOM! Starts right up and has been starting everytime since then. Probably turned it on and off 10 times to make sure it would do it again.

No trip to sears...I'm guessing it was somethhing to do with the fuel pump, and the engine not getting fuel when I tried to start it...But now it seems to be working.

When my battery was going out... I had to turn the key then immediately start it otherwise the headlights would drain it too much that it wouldn't start... I got every day I could out of that battery before replacing it.

I'm having this problem too but I think it's the killswitch. I was trying to start my bike but when I turned it on and pressed the killswitch to the on position, no fuel pump prime. Which I thought was odd, so I kept playing with the killswitch and still nothing. I gave the switch it little pound with my palm and the FI light came on and the fuel pump primed. Switched the killswitch off then back on and nothing. I had to give it a light pound again for it to work. Right now I left the killswitch in the on position and just cut off the ignition because that seems to be the only way it'll work without me pounding on the switch every time I want to ride. Anyone know how to fix this? I'm pretty sure there's a loose contact somewhere. I rarely use the killswitch but I'd like to be able to use it sometimes.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing. But the other day I switched it off then back to on and my bike wouldn't start.

so after i was reading this over and thinking of the first time the battery went dead in 2008 I started thinking. when it was dead in 2008 i would pop it in gear then it would be ok, i just couldn't start it if i would turn it off.
I ended up taking my cage off that i just put on over the winter and found that i pinched the wire going from the voltage regulator/rectifier to the stator. so I repaired the wires and all is good. so now I have an extra battery.

If you can think it, you can achieve it! everything is possible and nothing is impossible.
