Help Installing Akrapovic on an 05rr

This is such a dumb question...but I bought this full exhaust second hand and it doesn't have instructions (ohh pretty pictures...) and it doesn't seem to fit right. The seller said it's an 05-06, I wonder if it's an 03-04.

Do the straight pipes on the headers belong on the inside 2 cylinders, or the outside two?

Anyone have pictures of their oval Akrapovic headers and 4-2 connection pieces?

Are these pictures correct?

Thanks!!

Hey, what fitting problem are you having exactly?
I'm in the middle of installing the 05/06 system on my 06 and I'm having trouble as well. But this is the first full system I've done on a sport bike, so most of it is probably user error.

According to the manual that I got from Akra, the spring mounts are supposed to be facing the outside of the bike. It looks like in those pictures, the spring mounts are facing inwards (you can see best in the 3rd pic from the bottom). I'm 90% certain this is how its supposed to work. I've tried both, and with the spring mounts on the outside, the headers appear to line up better. It looks very similar to my exhaust (although I got the carbon canister) but I can't say for sure if its for 05/06. Someone in that thread said it will fit all 4 years, so you should be good to go. I'm interested in hearing what your problem is though.

I'd post pics but my camera is dead and the battery charger is no where to be found :(

I have the akra full race system on my 08 and it was a bit tricky to install as well. Those parts are so precise that sometimes it seems like they wont fit. I bought mine second hand and had to play jig-saw puzzle for quite awhile. I will check mine when i get home and see if I can help any.

I just installed a full akra on my 03, no problems, first you have to but the plates that holds the headers (without the headers, just plates) tighten the bolt nuts in, then slide the headers in and but the springs to hold the headers.

When I do this (I'm not the OP, but I'm in the middle of an install on my 06), the headers / collectors will NOT connect to the link pipe on the brake side.

How far did you have to disassemble your bike? Did you take out the battery tray and take off the seat rail?

Sorry but I don't get what you are saying, link pipe you mean the mid pipe?? you have to take that apart when putting the headers in. If you have a pic I can probably understand better and help you out more.

NO, just the fairings and the bracket that holds the radiator is what I took off.

Heres as close as I can get it. The system came with the headers and the collectors pre-assembled.

The other side slides RIGHT on, but for some reason this side of the exhaust system is cursed or something.

I'm having the same issue but on the other side (the one that works for you). I can't get the midpipe to fit between the battery tray and the piece that holds the rear brake reservoir.

Thanks for the input guys! Any more detailed pics that you might have would be very very helpful.

I had the race hex on there before, and that fit like a glove. The TI evo on the other hand...

Thanks again!
Alex

Ohh I see, I had difficulty fitting that too, you just have to move it around and put some elbow into it, if you put the springs on it helps.
