Ignition cylinder issue

Hey, so my bike starts, runs fine and all seems in order save for when the key is turned all the way towards "on" the HUD doesn't light up and the bike won't start. However, if I turn it slight before when it "sticks" at the "on" position it will start and the HUD lights up. This obviously won't work for riding as going over a large enough bump and the bike will turn off. Has anyone dealt with this issue before? I'm going to take off the cylinder and check it out when I get the chance. I'll post pictures or what I see when I do that. I'm thinking I may have to just buy a new cylinder and gas cap key as well.

sounds like a plan. I've never heard of that issue at all. Pull the cylinder and ohm it out to verify the faulty condition.
