My clutch is slipping

Hey guys I have an 04 cbr600rr that just hit 20,000 miles. I gunned it the other day and it slipped for the first time in first. The Rpms wind up too high before they should be and you can feel it not grabbing.

I dont know much about clutches but i tried adjusting the top where the clutch lever is to make sure it was fully engaged in gear and had no luck.

I've only had the bike for a month and its been great up until now. I've only notice it slip in 1st, but not 2nd when i gunned it from 50-100. I thought that seemed a little strange but i guess its just in the beginning stage of going out i guess.

I changed the oil when i got it and put Amsoil 10w-40 in it, the guy said thats what he used with it. Is there anyway to get around this problem? Will thicker oil help the issue or is there a common part that goes bad so I don't have to replace the whole clutch?

Thanks for any suggestions

If the clutch is properly adjusted, your clutch plates could be worn or warped.

If you have some freeplay in the lever to where there's no tension on the clutch cable, it'll be fine.

OEM clutch packs will be about $100-$150 depending on where you go.
