Clutch lifter play

Hey all, I have an 04 600 with 12k, never had the clutch slip even when accelerating uphill ... then one day for about an hour my friction point crept right to the grip. The cable is perfect, I used 80% of the course cable adjuster and moved it back but it gripped quicker, just not right at all. I noticed a metal-on-metal clap from the crankcase in the clutch lever play, and inside there's about 1/8" axial play in the clutch lifter piece and bearing, between the pressure plate and whatever is at the other end. I need to ride please!! :) See pic, much thanks.
