Urgent: Shogun Slider Install Help!

Hello everyone. I'm swapping out the incorrect sliders ('03-'06) for the correct ones ('09-'10). Smooth sailing, until I started bolting in the right side. That mutha was HELLA hard to get in. Problem... I pulled the bolt back out and trying to figure out why it's not going in all the way. The bolt shows it's not even 1/3 of the way in and stopping. I'm not pushing it in any further. Is there something I can do? The last bolt went in fine, this one's being a bugger and a half. Please help, she's in dire pain right now >.<

Sounds like the hole in the engine and the frame arnt aligned perfectly. this happens when you take out the engine bolt(s), its now dipping on that side.

If the bike isnt already, get it up on some stands. get a car jack under the engine. stick a piece of wood between the jack and engine. jack up the jack enough to take some weight off of the bolts/engine mounts. this will properly align the engine to the motor mounts which will allow the bolts to go in easily.

Lets just hope you didnt cross thread anything.

I'll try this. She's on stands already. I'll try jacking the motor. How high is too high?

Let's say, hypothetically, crossthread happened(s), what then....? >.<

you want to jack it up enough till the bolt goes in smoothly. not much at all. really just enough to take any pressure off of the bolts/motor mounts. jack it up till the jack gives you resistance back from the engine. that should be enough. if they bike falls of the stands then you have gone to far lol.

depends on which gets cross threaded, the mount or the bolt. if its the bolt, replace it. If its the motor mount, then you may have to re-tap it for a larger diameter bolt. youll know if you saw a lot of metal shavings when you took out the bolt the first time.

Good news friend; I tried reverse logic. I pulled the front OFF the stand, and it went in like a champ. I'm to exhausted from work todat to go into the physics of why it worked, or why it shouldn't have... plus I'm too damned relieved to care. Scared the beejezus outa me, for sure. I thank you kindly for the help/advice, friend.
