Won't start in gear, fine in neutral

I always park the bike in 1st, so I always start it up in first. Yesterday, for 2 starts I had to put it in neutral to start it. It wouldn't even turn over in first, just sat there doing nothing. After that it was fine again, started in 1st no issues. Today, went to a friend's and it was working fine, get home and grab some food then get ready to head to school when it didn't want to start in 1st again, but started fine when I put it in neutral. Of course the kickstand was up and the clutch pulled in. I've not had this problem with the bike until yesterday, and even since it's not every time, it's intermittent/random; sometimes it'll start in gear, sometimes it won't. What could be the problem? I have warranty on it, so I could take it in to the dealer, but it's my only mode of transportation, so I can't really afford to leave it with them for a long time.

Problem isn't with the side stand... if it was it wouldn't run at all whilst in gear.

The problem is either your clutch switch or the diode... tell the dealer to check them both, or if you have a multimeter you can.

Which diode are you referring to? I'm having the same issue. I tested the clutch switch with my meter, and its working.

Here is the wire harness diagram, you referring to number 6?:

Well I replaced the diode, still won't start in gear. Any thoughts on other things to check? I see the cables from the clutch lever switch go into the turn signal/ horn assembly, was thinking of cracking this open and looking for a loose connection in it.

Any ideas appreciated. OP or Admin, if I should start my own thread, let me know.

Thanks!
