Integrated Tail Light doesn't fit

I just bought an integrated turn signal/ tail light, but have a bit of an issue. When installing it, After attaching it to the mounting bracket, there is not enough space in the fairing. I believe it may be a random bracket from another bike... It was never attatched to the fairing, just wedged in with the old tail light. Would simple metal L-brackets do the trick?

I think you are missing the black cover piece that goes on the bottom. This is what attaches the taillight o the fairing. Did you have a taillight on the bike that you replaced? it would be on that taillight. T

Well, I got it mounted (very ugly, but it's hidden) but of course, now the cables don't reach. We're talking about a quarter-inch too short. Good lord.
