ABS master cylinder

Was wondering if doing a 09 MC upgrade on a 06. Is the master cylinder on an ABS model different than the one not on the ABS model?

I've not a clue I'm afraid, but before you do it, have you checked the service manual procedure for bleeding the front and rear? It looks a right PITA!!

The M/Cs are the same.

The ABS is monitored and controlled by an external servo and measurement markings on the rotors.

You're safe swapping, I already did mine

'06 in Silver: 29K on the clock (and counting)
PCIII w/custom tune (stock AF and shortie stacks)
320mm rotors with SBK5 pads, Galfer HH rear
Full f/r FenTubo Type 2 set black on black
Nissin Radial M/C (07+)
wrapped in Mich Power Pures (aka love)

thanks. i just had trouble with swapping mine and even the honda shop cant figure out why pressure is not building. maybe its the lines.

Did you have the calipers rebuilt at the same time?

And is the MC new or used?


I ran into the same thing when I was swapping mine, I had just cleaned mine and the inside pistons weren't priming so I ended up having to push them back into the caliper a few times to get the air bubbles out.

Yea I rebuilt everything and the mc had only a few hundred miles on it but i rebuilt it anyway to check it off the list of things it could be. But the lever still pulls back all the way

Do you still have the stock lever on it or aftermarket?

And is there any pressure building at all, or is it not until the end of lever travel?

it is the stock lever and does not get pressure until the end of the lever travel.

hmmmmm...

Try using a screw driver with e-tape on it to push the inside pistons back inside the caliper (be sure to take the cap off and keep an eye on the level, don't want brake fluid going everywhere), bleed the caliper that you pushed the pistons in and then use the M/C to get them back in place by using the lever.

I only had to do this on one caliper and my lever travel went back to normal, normal bleeding techniques did not want to work for me with a mityvac so I dunno!
