Trunk won't open

Title is actually a lie, it will open, but with difficulty. Bike is an 03 RR, only way to get it to pop is to turn the key, grab the cable from under the bike and pull on it, then use either another hand or my face to pop open the trunk.

I have tried to find adjustments and screw around but no luck, is there a place to adjust this, or could it just be the cable is stretched and needs replacing?

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks in advance.

Either the cable is stretched or the cable's retaining lugs may be bent.
