Bike wont start in the morning....

Ok so ever since it got really cold last week here in TX, my bike has been acting up not starting in the morning. I push start it and it starts right up and runs but when I dont ride it long enough, when I turn it off it wont start back up...it just sits there and cranks. I have a pretty good feeling its the battery, but I was wondering if anyone else might have some other input on this.

Welcome to the forum JS!

What blueballpilot (sorry I just had to) is trying to tell you is the cold weather can put a strain on a weak battery. Get a 1amp trickle charger and charge it about 8 hrs. Overnight if the charger specifically says it won't overcharge the battery. If that doesn't solve the problem take it down to the dealer if it's under warranty or AutoZone/Advanced Auto and have them test it. Not sure what year bike you have or how many miles are on it.

Ok so I think its my fuel pump.....Im not hearing it turn on when I turn the key on. I guess Im going to take the tank off and check all the connections before I buy a new one. I charged the battery today and it holds charge fine. Anyone else have anymore suggestions?

I don't see how you could push start the bike with a bad fuel pump but check your fuses and your fuel pump relay on the left hand side under the side fairing. Make sure your kill switch is on.

Give us some more details. Something is not adding up here. It doesn't crank with the switch but you can push start it. Fuel pump should be fine then.

Out of curiousity....

Have you changed your oil? If so, what weight are you using?

Redrider- It wont let me push start it anymore, and when I push the start button it will just sit there and crank but not turn over. Ill go check the fuses and stuff in a little bit and report back

Wizard- The oil was changed right before I bought it, Im not sure what oil he used

Check the voltage at the battery. If it's lower than 13.0v have it tested and charged. If you keep having problems with the battery replace the R/R with an '04 model w/ a heat shield.
