Thieves tried hotwiring bike, now it wont start

Somebody tried stealing my friends 600rr by cutting the 3 ignition wires and tried to hotwire it. It didnt start so they just dumped it outside . Now when we tried reconnecting the wires, the bike turns over but it wont start. You guys have any idea what we should look for?? How much does this harness usually go for used/new? The bike ran fine before these assholes messed it up. Please help!

Sorry man, however, these posts don't get answered for obvious reasons. Just take it to a dealer and they will sort it out.

Damn you guys sure are paranoid around here! But rereading my post does seem kinda fishy. We might just buy a new harness or keep trying to figure it out.

I might end up buying the bike from him so I'll be spending more time on these forums. Anyone from Torrance around here?

Thanks anyways guys

Harness is like 38 bucks or something.. go to servicehonda.com or your local dealer would be around the same price.

I used to live in Torrance. Try searching ebay for a service manual. I got a copy of one for about $20 shipped.
You can't splice the wires back together?

How's this Moeman?

This is an older pic (bad quality too). I've replaced the heal guards since then.
Tonight I can take a better pic and post it tomorrow.
Thanks!

If you post up a pic of yourself or maybe the bike, I have a diagram that you can keyless start the bike, but you should be able to solve the problem with it also... Sounds like the diode is blown....

yeah...um, 38 bucks for a harness aint happening. 269 on Ronayers...Ronayers is almost always exactly the same or less than the dealer. You might find one on ebay, but replacing the whole thing is gonna be a pain in the ass! I just finished rewiring my f2 (well, f3 harness and motor...) it wasnt really "hard", just a pain!

this isnt a "direct link" so dont delete it please mods... service manual Right click -save target as where it says "click here to play video" and save it. Its a pdf. so you need acrobat reader.

Did you check the fuses? i mean, if you connect the wires back togeather, it should be fine...pink to pink, red to red, red/black to red/black...pretty self exlpanatory. Obviously you would still need the key then...lol.

for keyless entry, well... i aint gonna tell you how to do that till we get a couple pics of you and the bike, lol.

I have a picture, I'll try to post it when I get home (at work right now)

I might have to replace the ignition, because when they shoved a screwdriver down the ignition when they popped it out. I've been reading about HISS and it's got me worried..

"Honda Ignition Security System (HISS)

Honda's effective HISS anti-theft system features a fail-safe electronic interlock that prevents the engine from being started with anything other than the motorcycle's two original keys. Totally disabling the engine at the very heart of its ignition system, the system cannot be bypassed by either hot-wiring the ignition or exchanging the ignition switch module, thus effectively deterring joyriders and greatly reducing the chance of ride-away theft."

If I replace the ignition with a new one, will it work?!? I found some on ebay with keys but the way that's worded, I dont think it will work. I want to know if I can get it running before I buy it off him(renting a truck to pick it up this Friday) help!

If I cant replace the ignition module, how do I fix the busted ignition?!

Still no pics, how about a vin number. This sounds more and more like a cover-up.. If "THEY" put a scrwdriver in the key hole you are going to need a new ignition..$$$$

Why does your sig say "Soon: '03 600RR"???
Posted from another thread. Good work, the bike looks great! All black is so nice, I might pick mine up next week :)posted on 1-26

This thread started on 1-23???????

Did you not read what I posted before? I'm planning on buying the bike from him this Friday. Why would I post any of this if I stole it? Couldnt I just steal another one and swap over the parts? Help if you want, I'm not here to be accused of anything.

Here's a pic of the ignition and the cut wires.

Hey dude, All we asked for was a pic... Know I see one so here is the help you want.. You can swap your ignition out for a new one, you are going to have a different key for your tank and tail, unless you get the whole set together.. U.S. doesn't have hiss, your bike will start... The theives probably cut off your diode in the bottom.. The diode is the key to starting the bike, it tells your Fi to turn on.. You can bypass the starter and have a keyless start, if this is the route you are wanting to go hit me up. I have done this on a number of bikes, you can put a safety switch somewhere hidden on the bike so it can't be started without hitting the switch.. Just some options for you, sorry to be so judgemental, but you have to look at it from our side. New member, first post is how to hotwire a bike?????

Good luck to you and keep an eye on the bike.. Next time they might just take the thing and worry about starting it later. Full coverage?? Get it!!!!

Later. T

I'm planning to get a set like this off ebay. The diode should be in the ignition wires somewhere in there, I think.

Hopefully that should fix it. I did see the diagram you drew in a previous post on how to bypass the ignition and just use a button/switch, but i'd really like to still use the key. After reading old posts on this forum, i'm definately getting full coverage. I got some GREAT quotes from bike-line(Markel American Insurance), so hopefully I'll be the new owner come this Friday :)

how much is that set for? I have a set I could sell you..

you would only need to buy the 38 dollar contact base for it.

you have a 05?

I have 03 set if you want to buy it... but you would need the contact base(bottom piece with the plug) I think its around 38 bucks. I heard the 05-06 doesnt have the diode...

PM if you need a key set..
