clutch casing damage. opinions?

Guys, here is my clutch casing. It has slid down the road once upon a time by the look of it. My friend had the bike for about 3 years riding daily since this damage was caused (it was the owner prior to him). No issues from him.

Now I own it and observed that theres some clutch fluid or oil or something leaking out of it slowly. No drips or anything, but its slimy all around the spot.
So a real slow leak by the feel of it.

If I was to replace this cover, which I think I might do sometime, what needs to be replaced?

I wont be able to just undo that single middle bolt by the looks of things. Will I have to replace the whole larger casing?? Is it a cheap part? Or should I get a big breaker bar and try pry the small cover off, clean it up, and replace the small cover alone?

Or should I just leave it and make sure I check frequently if the leak gets any worse? Top up the fluid when I need to..

If there are no drips then it's so slow that you don't have to keep an eye on the level. Replace the whole cover if you go that route. They're $100 on ebay sometimes, or http://www.hondapartshouse.com/oempa...nkcase-cover-2

Think it's just rtv, no gasket.

yeah thats what im thinking. Whats actually under here? Do I ever have to take it off?
is it the gearbox, clutch, crankshaft etc? So only when im replacing one of these?

Also what fluid is in here, is it just engine oil for lubrication? So if it was ever to leak faster my low engine oil light would let me know, right?

The small disc is just a cover to the bolt that's used to turn the engine to TDC, for working on valve clearances etc. There's no fluid behind it. The engine cover itself protects the clutch & does contain oil. And u don't want to rely on the warning light for low oil. Check the inspection window on the lower part of the casing for oil level.

Tbh I'd check coolant first, the hoses & bottle. Coolant can have that slimy feel & can easily end up all over the bike while riding if there's a leak. I'd start there

Thanks for the info and tips.

I know while my friend owned it he did replace the radiator. The fan was touching it and wore through one of the radiator ribs. Had to be replaced.

Although the bike in general is clean, only slimy in the immediate vicinity of this damage like its seeping out from there.
