2006 600RR won't start HELP!

Hey guys I got a problem here and I tried searching but no luck. The other day I went to start my bike and it just cranks but would not start. Here is a sequence of what I'm doing.

2006 CBR600RR
15k miles
Completely stock

I put the key in and turn it.
All lights come on.
Headlights and signal works
High beam works
Fuel pump primes
Kill switch off
Battery reads 12.9volts
Hear compression when starting
Hear compression when bump starting

When I go to start it, it tries to crank and I can smell gas after it won't start. Sometimes it would start for a split second if I start it with the throttle applied but will die right after. Help!

turn up your idle speed adjuster.

try starting with WOT if it doesn't fire up after a couple of attempts without touching the throttle at all.

Could foul plugs be the culprit? The night before I did cold start it for 2 seconds then shut it down right after. Could this foul out the plugs?

It's possible do not roll the throttle on & off while attempting to start the bike best way & only way is to hold the throttle wide open yes wide open while hitting the starter switch by doing that you will not foul the spark plugs . Make sure the battery is fully charged before hand it might take a few trials to get the engine running so do not give up . Once it starts hold the throttle steady for a few minutes & do not let go until you feel the engine can hold an idle on its own otherwise it will die again & will be even harder to start .

Once it starts just hold the throttle above idle (roughly 3k)

Great point to bring that up & BTW with the idle above 3K you would be recharging the battery with some power juice . If the bike is just running at regular idle of 1500 RPM or so you are using stored charge in the battery cells & you are not recharging it like people think would occur

Thanks guys will give this a try. Yeah, I tried to start it with the throttle applied but not WOT. Probably flooded it. If plugs are fouled, is the only way to fix it is to replace it or can I leave the bike alone for a week and it would fix itself?

I know some will tell you take the lugs off , clean then , reinstall & go from there but if it was me I would leave them alone for a day then give the bike a starting test just apply the wide open throttle while attempting to start the bike & it will be alright

Haven't done any work to it except for cleaning the chain right before trying to start it. It did sit for about 2 months but it was kept on a trickle charger with a full tank of gas. The night before, it started right up without issues for 2 seconds before I killed it.

Word of advise if you will let the bike sit that much time do not simply start it for a few seconds or minutes then shut it off why cause what you are doing is draining the battery and nothing gained

If you want to run it and not drain the battery at the same time start it up until the temp hits 165F then hold the throttle above 3K RPMS as that will help recharge the battery and won't hurt anything verses just starting it then shutting it off

Guys tell me if I'm reading it wrong, but in the original post he said he can hear the fuel prime but the kill switch is off. To me that could be a problem by itself right?

I think he meant it was set to run "off" and not flipped to not run "on"
