03 clutch gone!

Just got on my cbr , started motor , pull in clutch lever and 'pop' no clutch! It's not the cable , the actuator on the engine casing has gone slack ? Any ideas ? , there's evidence the clutch case has been off before , oozing of liquid gasket , there has been a distinct rattle when cold for a week or so .....
Is this gonna be expensive?

Won't really know until you drain the oil and pop the clutch cover off. Check the spring on the outside of the actuator. If all is good take off the cover and inspect the clutch plates. Replace if necesary. Check to make sure its all in working order. Remove old seal... razor blade and brake cleaner worked well for me. Reseal with high heat Honda bond.... put it all back together and adjust the cable accordingly. Not that expensive. Probably one of the lower cost maintenance issues bikes require

Chances are the clutch has been replaced a few times... its an 03 so.....

You may have busted off the release pin. You'll know when you take the cover off

Can't be the oil pump drive. Its driven off the back of the clutch basket.

Who the hell is your mechanic? This guy sounds like a bit of a dimwit
