Squeaking Noise

I hear a squeaking noise, more noticeable during cold idle but always there. It is there even when I'm not on the bike and it's stationary. Any other thoughts?

Could be a million things given the lack of details you provided.

Not sure what other details I can provide. It's coming from the engine (bike is not moving). I can't pinpoint an exact location. Sounds like a car's squeaky serpentine belt.

How long does it last? Does it squeak while its idling? Does it happen every time? How long does it last?

Dusty suspension can get squeaky, are you sure it's not your rear shock?

I'm pretty certain it's the motor or an accessory for it, as it doesn't happen when the bike is off and I roll it, bounce on it, etc. I turn the bike on (and I'm not even on it) and it squeaks. I think it goes away once it warms up; I'll listen for it after I'm done riding next time, before I shut it off to double check. It does happen every time, and seems to last until I ride off (which is typically about 80% warmed up).

I had the same problem. Found out it was because I was low on headlight fluid

video will definitely help diagnose the problem.

It was very subtle in the video. Is it louder in person?

As to what it could be I have no clue, haha sorry.

Ya, the exhaust kind of drowns it out in the video, but its much more noticeable in person.

Keep bumping this thread, also go add the video to your Original Post so more people see it. One of the gear heads are bound to show up in here eventually.

The CCT generally makes a rattling noise so it wouldn't be high on my suspect list. Shot in the dark... possibly an engine mount, drivetrain component or even the rad fan (probably not rad fan if it's only at cold start)?
Basically anything with a bearing or bushing I would inspect as squeaks tend to come from under-lubricated parts or contact points that are not under sufficient pressure.

Oh and the headlight fluid. Always gotta check the headlight fluid.

Thank you, good insight. I'm thinking we can rule out:
- CCT (based on your input)
- drivetrain component (bike is just sitting there, drivetrain is static)
- rad fan (as you mentioned, its not moving during cold start)

I'll see if I can investigate the engine mounts somehow.

I was just taking a guess so don't take it for gospel but yea check it out. And to clarify, by "drivetrain" I was speaking broadly about anything from the engine to the wheels.

Vibrations caused by the running motor could also cause other things to make noise. For example, I have a plate mount with a little rubber roller on it that helps protect the rear tire hugger over bumps. I noticed one day that this thing was making a racket at certain RPMs only. In my case it was more of a buzzing sound than a squeak but a little lube eliminated it.

Squeek persists any time the engine is on. Whether I'm on the bike or not, moving or not, engine warm or cold. I think the mounts may be the winner. I'll try to inspect them next time I have the fairings off
