What does this chain / sprocket go to and the chain is lose

Trying to find the source of a weird buzzing noise on my bike at about 5,000 RPM's. at a friends as we took the clutch cover off to see if anything seemed odd in this area. This chain pictures it pretty lose so what dkes this go to and should it have any slack in it?

I think it's the oil pump chain, not sure about any slack though. I'll check the service manual quick

the manual doesn't say anything about slack in the chain.

I'm on my phone at the moment. We pulled the clutch basket off and everything seems good in there. So either this chain is to lose for what ever reason or my noise is coming from my Cain cam tensioner

I think that's the the chain cam and the tensioner aka cct is what went bad (not tightening the chain tight enough and that's what cause the buzzing/loose sound)) . Time for an ape I'd say (but I might be wrong).

"Buzzing" sound around 5k rpm is typically the cct, especially on bikes of our year.

Nothing of value comes easy, and nothing that's easy is of value.

Would this be the cam chain tensioner?

100%

It only rattles as the revs drop and the slack rattles on the off tensioner side. It won't rattle much when loaded

when I ride it rattles at about 5-6000 RPM's, above that I dont tend to notice it, below 5,000 it never does it. Usually stops doing it when I pull the clutch in.

So what exactly is the issue what causes it and how is it fixed? Price? Parts?

Buy a cct. They aren't expensive. Changing it is super easy.

I found Nutty's video on how to replace it on yotube, looks really easy. Only $51.00 and the gasket as well. Will be nice to get this noise taken care of.
