Trouble going into gear

Hi All

Ive had my 2005 600rr for about 2 years now. Two weeks ago I started noticing that my bike would not go into the next gear when I shifted with the same force I have been for two years. It seems like it would feel as if I shifted but it will immediately go back down to previous gear. If I shift hard I do not experience this problem. What can this be? Can this be user error? I'd like to think its not because I dont think I am shifting any differently than before. The clutch also feels different a bit different when taking off from a stop.

Thanks

Make sure your clutch cable is properly adjusted. If its dragging you may get poor engagements.

Also check that the joints in your shift linkage move freely. If they are binding you can get the symptoms you describe

I shifted from 1st to 2nd and back down with my hand. The linkage seems fine, is there a better way of checking this?

If you grab the linkage it should rock back and forth between your fingers.
